I am driving from Las Vegas NV. to Wichita KS.Via the I70!?
I am not in a big hurry but would like to get at least 8hrs a day of driving in. Any suggestion of cool,fun and scenic places to stop? I will be traveling with my wife (33) and my two daughter (22) & (16)

Skip the interstates and route it this way Pop this into mapquest et al Las Vegas> Mount Carmel Junction UT > Escalante UT > Torrey UT > Hanksville UT > Moab UT Stop I just sent you thru Zion , Bryce, Capitol Reef and Arches NP So you will need one of these which you can buy when you get to Zion http://www.nps.gov/fees_passes.htm Fill up in Hurricane and Moab UT Since Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain NP is closed until 5/27 there's no point in sending you across I-70 Better idea use US 50 across CO starting in Grand Jct CO Use the scenic SR 128 out of Moab to connect to I-70 EB Use mapuest et al and enter Grand Jucntion CO > Witchita KS >options :Shotest route http://www.mesalek.com/colo/us50.html Leave CO and it's flat all the way to Wichita

You should or should have taken 95 to Laughlin, then 163/68 over to Kingman AZ where you catch I-40 Take I-40 to Tucumcari NM then catch 54 out of Tucumcari to Wichita. 54 is a nice Hwy. This is a much quicker, and better route. I drive to Las Vegas from KC once or twice a year and have went both ways. There is no comparison. I only made the "mistake" of taking the I-70 route once. Las Vegas to Laughlin = 1hr 33min / 97 miles Laughlin to Tucumcari = 9hr 35min / 675 miles Tucumcari to Wichita = 6hr 56min / 418 miles
