Well there's: The Alamo where the US stole Texas from the Mexican Government. Killeen Texas - Luby's massacre was a mass killing that took place on October 16, 1991, in Killeen, Texas, United States when George Jo Hennard drove his pickup truck into a Luby's Cafeteria and shot and killed 23 people, wounded 20 and then committed suicide by shooting himself.Reacting to the massacre,[4] in 1995 the Texas Legislature passed a shall-issue gun law allowing Texas citizens with the required permit to carry concealed weapons. The 1995 Texas law, signed by Governor George W. Bush, became part of a broad movement to allow U.S. citizens to easily obtain permits to carry concealed weapons. Killeen is also home to the 4th Infantry division they captured Saddam Hussein who was arrested for not having weapons of mass destruction. About Looking to fly from Wichita (ICT) to Melbourne (MEL) June, 2008. Any ideas for a fare around $1000 or less

Looking to fly from Wichita (ICT) to Melbourne (MEL) June, 2008. Any ideas for a fare around $1000 or less?
Seems like it should not be as expensive as listed on Yahoo travel, Expedia, United, Qantas, et al. The planes are going from Wichita to Denver to Los Angeles to Sydney to Melbourne and back to Wichita whether I am on it or not. How can I get a discounted or cheaper fare than the travel plans rates? There has to be a wholesale rate or something out there, $1500 round trip is quite ridiculous, isn't it? Ideas are welcome, thank you.

About Travel from Wichita, Kansas

Travel from Wichita, Kansas?
I want to go somewhere by driving myself from Wichita, Kansas. If it is far enough I don' t mind it is inside of Kansas or not! Can you recommend not-far but not-close traveling spot?

Omaha's zoo alone is worth the trip to the city. And since so many exhibits are in domes, it doesn't really matter what the weather is like the day you visit. St. Louis has a ton of museums and the zoo in Forest Park. All are free but charge for certain exhibits. Also, Grant's Farm is free and entertaining. How about Branson? Silver Dollar City plus all the dinner theaters are fun. My kids and I really enjoyed the Dixie Stampede.

I am not sure what you like to do--that would make a difference! Since you like cats, you might want to make a trip to Manhattan (as in Kansas!) to Wildcat country. If you enjoy sports, take in one of the games --or there is always Aggieville where you can party with other 'cat lovers! The K-State Open House is usually held the first week of April--there are always a lot of interesting and free activities going on at this event. And if you get tired of the animals on display at the Veterinary Science buildings, you can take in the Manhattan Zoo which is quite nice. If you think you are going to Manhattan, but want a stop on the way because you like history, take Highway 15 to Abilene. If you like history, the Eisenhower Museum is awesome--and not too far from Wichita. The town has some nice bed and breakfast homes where you could relax in style. You can also take a tour of several lovely mansions there--including the Seeley mansion on Buckeye --Abilene's major street. You could treat yourself to a nice meal at the Kirby House Restaurant or the Brookville Hotel on the north side of town that is famous for its fried chicken dinners. (yum!)--but this restaurant is closed on Mondays... There are some wonderful antique stores on Buckeye, also. Where ever you decide to go to, I hope you have a wonderful time! Good luck!
