What should I bring in my car for an 18 hour road trip? (Everything from toiletries to books)?
Im driving from Phoenix, AZ to Wichita, KS hopefully in one sitting. of course ill make stops, Im traveling with 2 small dogs. I am trying to be really thorough about what I bring to have readily available. Suggestions? Like I said, everything from Tums to a Camera...just want suggestions.

Pillow and blankets. And water for your dogs. Snacks, Pop too stay awake.

When I travel I always make a small first aid/meds kit that I'll be able to reach if I need it...I drive my hubby crazy, cuz I essentially empty the medicine cabinet. Gotta have your music, water, snacks, crosswords or word finds, book, face wipes, napkins or paper towels, change (for the odd toll or whatever), map, all your safety stuff - jumper cable, flashlight, one of those tools to get you out if you crash (bust window, cut seatbelt), camera, directions, including places you want to stop, and any other activity you enjoy (drawing, knitting). And, you can always work on your Christmas list! Don't forget your cell... Enjoy your trip!

I'm writing this for one of my friends who needs help ASAP: (Please give advice/links ets as much as possible so I can help her with this, she is reuniting with her son after 15 years and traveling with 2 other children) Original Msg: Do any of you know the Wichita Fals, TX area or know of someone who does? I need to find a hotel room and want to feel safe (of course). Thank you in advance!! She is leaving Jan 18th so there is a deadline. I really hope someone can help. We have researched online but I feel advice from people who live or visit there would know best. Again, we thank you. And she is traveling alone, she will be meeting her 2 sons in Wichita Falls, TX. My mistake.

The story came out in Analog or Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction magazine maybe in the 1980's and involved testing centers established by these aliens that faster-than-light travel. They would test all human children and if the kids were able to teleport then they'd take the children. Humans resisted at first but the aliens were brutal. I recall they killed everyone in Wichita, Kansas to make an example of what happens to anyone that resists them. So there were testing centers all over the world and human children were tested, a small percentage were abducted, then one child teleported back to Earth after being abducted but the aliens took her back to their planet. It enraged the humans who decided that no child goes to the alien planet twice. They posted solders at every testing center. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone?

However, I have three places you can check to find out. 1) alibris.com just ask this question on that site. 2) ask the librarian at loc.gov which is the website for the Library of Congress. 3) Go to Baen's Books on the web. Sign in. When they email an okay and you sign in for real, you can ask others in the chat rooms or ask the authors of other books and editors of Sci-Fi magazines this question. Then after you find your answer and would like to do more you can read and download free e-books. Have fun and enjoy!

Any one have a decent used car for sale?
I live in Wichita Falls, Tx. willing to travel to the metroplex and also North into Oklahoma City if needed. trying to get a reliable first car for my daughter

Go to an auction...thats where I got my first car, Take a mechanic....Auctions have pretty good deals and its best to go toward the end of the month. When dealing with a private seller...you don't know what you're getting yourself into unless its a friend of the family.When dealing with a dealer, its safer than both auctions and private sellers but also more expensoive(they have to make a profit) Remember to do a carfax report...that 30.00 is nothing compared to the 100's-1000's you could spend repairing a car u thought was already in good shape. Although a used cars may need immediate repairs anyway because its old and things start to fall apart after so many years.But Carfax lets you know how often the person did oil changes&everything..so it will give you a pretty good Idea of whether the engine is is good shape..GOODLUCK....and Try http://www.yahoo.com/autos

Can anyone recomend any site besides ebay for purchasing used HD sportsters ?
Google searches didn,t reveal much. I already all over Ebay but I'm planning on purchasing a bike next year with tax return and savings. That gives me 6 months to hunt for bargains but so far all I've really found is Ebay. I live in Wichita Ks. but I'd be willing to travel 300 to 500 for right bike. Also I'd appreciate it if you spare me your opinions on how I'll want something bigger than a sportster DUH. I'm purchasing within my means perhaps a sportster trade in will help me with a future bike purchase.
